The People’s Voice Is Heard

Offering a very clear statement, voters participating in the City of Truth or Consequences’ (T-or-C) September 22 special election overwhelmingly denounced a “people’s referendum,” which sought a return of city property at 301 Foch Street to its former designation as the Lee Belle Johnson Senior Recreation Center.
After the polls closed Tuesday evening, city officials tallied a total of 780 ballots, with 629 votes siding against the initiative and 151 votes in favor of the ordinance.
A total of 75 a voters cast an absentee ballot and 417 citizens took advantage of the available early in-person voting opportunity.
