Gila Road Closures Effective 7/1

The Travel Management Rule (TMR) will go into effect across four districts of the Gila National Forest on July 1, 2016. The TMR is mandated across all national forests and prohibits motor vehicle use off designated routes and roads. The four districts where TMR will begin are Quemado, Reserve, Wilderness and Black Range.

EB Scripting New ATV-OHV Codes

Following a report from Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) committee member Rex Ploederer June 1, Elephant Butte City Councilors tentatively agreed to move toward the adoption of revised regulations pertaining to the operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATV) and other OHVs on city streets.

For the second year in a row hundreds of off-roading adventure enthusiasts are in Sierra County for the Annual Chile Challenge at Caballo Lake State Park.
The Las Cruces Four Wheel Drive Club hosts the 25th annual event at the Riverside Campground on Oct. 14-17, with hundreds of registrants and spectators expected to attend.
The event has been held in Las Cruces for the past 23 years, but designation of the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument, near where past events were held, led to the number of trails available being cut and additional red tape for organizers.
