Careflight Takes Flight From T-or-C

During the Sierra Vista Hospital (SVH) Governing Board’s February 24 regular meeting, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mike Zimmerman confirmed that officials with Tristate Careflight air ambulance service have opted to close their base of operations at the hospital.
The CEO told board members the move would not adversely affect operations at SVH, noting that air ambulance services would still be available from many neighboring communities. He stressed that the available services would assure a helicopter could be on SVH’s pad and ready to transfer a patient within 20 minutes of notification. Zimmerman said this would mean hospital staff would have to initiate a call a few minutes earlier than usual, but otherwise assured board members that the move should not be viewed as a set back…
