Man In Jail For Child Porn

A 20-year old T-or-C man faces 18 felony charges after he allegedly viewed, downloaded and maintained child pornography on his computer.
Det. Mike Lanford with the T-or-C Police Department was appointed some time ago to the Internet Crimes Against Children team, organized through the state attorney general’s office and was contacted when an undercover agent learned of a possible case in the T-or-C area.

According to charges filed in the Sierra County Magistrate Court, Attorney General’s Office Special Agent Pena, in April of 2012 software the office uses to conduct undercover operations determined an individual had viewed 11 files, three of which matched suspected child pornography descriptions.
Through the IP address it was determined that the suspect was a subscriber through Baja Broadband and the activity was monitored using the investigative software. In the days following the initial detection, several more incidents were discovered where the suspect had viewed multiple files (photo-graphs and/or videos) some of which had descriptions of containing child pornography, meaning the viewer knew what he/she was about to look at.
Court documents indicate the activity continued from April through November, when court proceedings were filed to require Baja Broadband to identify the subscriber who was using the IP address. Within a week the internet provider identified the subscriber as Brian Sparman of 408 East First, T-or-C.
The activity continued, as indicated in Special Agent Pena’s report to the court and additional files were viewed on December 6.
