An employee has been arrested on charges alleging he broke into the shop where he works and stole stereo equipment, a cell phone, some checks, and then sold the stereo. Truth or Consequences Police arrested Johnny Wilkins Jr., 35, of T-or-C, at his place of work Tuesday, December 17 on the two counts of burglary, larceny and a single charge of tampering. According to charges filed against Wilkins in Sierra County Magistrate Court, the owners of Sierra Collision reported the burglary of a vehicle that had been towed to their shop on South Broadway. It was learned sometime during the night of December 9 that the vehicle had been entered and a Boss Stereo with a touch screen display, a prepaid cell phone, and $300 in cash was taken. TCPD Sgt. J. Baker was investigating the burglary when he learned from an individual that Wilkins had asked him to cash checks from Sierra Collision and The Windshield Doctor, as well as some checks that were made out to the business. The individual stated he could not help Wilkins and called the owner of the shop to inform them what had happened.
