Blown Arrester Causes Power Outage

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday, September 12, Sierra Electric Cooperative (SEC) members in Elephant Butte, Monticello, Cuchillo, Winston, Chloride and Poverty Creek lost power for just over two hours when an arrester at the Cuchillo substation failed (see photo above). SEC crews immediately responded to the event and were able to clear away the blown arrester to restore power.
