I-25 Bridge Work Details Released

As previously reported, this summer’s project list for New Mexico Department of Trans-portation (NMDOT) contractors will include renovations and upgrades to three regional bridges along Interstate 25. Included on NMDOT’s maintenance schedule are the Luis Lopez Bridge in Socorro, the San Marcial/Exit 124 Bridge and T-or-C’s Exit 79 Bridge. While preliminary work at all three sites has already begun, NMDOT officials have released an anticipated timeline for the start up and conclusion of major efforts at each location. NMDOT authorities acknowledge a 60-day window has been slated to complete each of the bridge projects. Socorro’s Luis Lopez Bridge will be the first in line, with rehabilitation efforts to begin in earnest on Tues., April 22. Completion of this project is currently anticipated to be on or about Tues., July 1. Workers with project contractor Villalobos Construction will then move south to the San Marcial-Exit 124 Bridge. Construction at this location is presently slated to begin on Tues., July 22 and to wrap up on or about Tues., Sept. 30. Rehabilitation of the Exit 79 Bridge will follow, with an expected start up day of Tues., Oct. 14 and a completion day of Tues., Dec. 9. NMDOT authorities have further announced plans to organize public hearings to meet with Sierra County residents and outline more details about the Exit 79 project, when the aforementioned start date nears.
