And The Race Is On…

After the deadline for candidate registration passed Tuesday, January 7, the list of candidates for the upcoming March 4 municipal elections was formally announced. Of the nine positions up for grabs in Sierra County’s three municipalities, only two garnered opposing candidates. Solitary candidates are listed as unopposed for all but one of the remaining posts, which had no candidates apply. While potential write-in candidates will still have an opportunity to vie for available seats on the community boards, voters’ attention will no doubt be focused on the group of six candidates contesting for two spots on the T-or-C City Commission. The following candidates have registered and will appear on the March 4 election ballots.

CITY OF T-OR-C

•Current Mayor Pro-tem Sandra Whitehead will seek another term and was the sole candidate registered for the four-year Position-One seat on the city commission.

•Commissioner Mike Kertesz has declared his intention to seek a full four-year term in the board’s Position-Three post. Community resident ……
